
Arnold Henderson, Environmentalist
Arnold Henderson, long term resident of Highland Park, Vice Chair of the Environmental Commission and Co-Chair of the Shade Tree Advisory Commission and his wife Natalie will be moving to California to be near his daughter and grandchildren later this summer. Arnold has resigned from the Commission and Advisory Committee.
The Mayor and Borough Council honored Arnold for his years of service to Highland Park on June 3, 2009 with the following resolution:

BOROUGH OF HIGHLAND PARK
Resolution No. 6-09-192
WHEREAS, ARNOLD HENDERSON, a long-time involved resident of the Borough of Highland Park, is a strong advocate for the environment and one of the Borough’s most active naturalists and environmentalists; and
WHEREAS, ARNOLD HENDERSON was a member of the Highland Park Environmental Commission since 1990, having served as Vice Chairman; and
WHEREAS, ARNOLD HENDERSON was also a member of the Highland Park Shade Tree Advisory Committee since 1990, having served as Co-Chairperson; and
WHEREAS, ARNOLD HENDERSON was the sole author of the 2001 Community Stewardship Incentive Program/Tree Planting Grant; a major author of Highland Park’s Community Forestry Management Plan; a major contributor to the 2000 Urban Forestry Grant; and a contributor to Highland Park’s shade tree inventory;
WHEREAS, ARNOLD HENDERSON is an author on nature for resident’s guides and environmental newsletters, sharing his knowledge and expertise generously and enthusiastically; and
WHEREAS, ARNOLD HENDERSON is a tireless volunteer at the Borough’s Native Plant Preserve and was instrumental in various projects in the Borough such as the Meadows Trail and the Eugene Young environmental Education Center, and
WHEREAS, ARNOLD HENDERSON and his family are preparing to move from Highland Park to California and will be sorely missed by the Governing Body and the community at large.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Highland Park, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, hereby commend ARNOLD HENDERSON on his many accomplishments and his service to the Borough and wish him continued success and happiness in his new home.
