Jazz Girl Asks You
Jazz girl (namely my daughter) wants you to help with this post. As I wanted to write a post but I wasn’t sure what to say, I decided to ask questions. Pick any or all and answer in the comments.
- Are you reading or have you read any good books? Care to share?
I’m reading The River Midnight by Lilian Nattel; I found it buried in a stack of books at the Highland Park Public Library book sale on Sunday. It’s a novel about women in a shtetl in Poland: one in particular who has not been able to have children and her friend and neighbor who has many, more than she can handle. - When you think of a photo from any blog other than your own, which photo first comes to mind?
I had in mind one post of an old house by EG Wow, but somehow I landed on this house by Lake Ontario. - Can you name any recipe from a blog other than your own that influenced your cooking or baking?
It would have to be Batya’s cake recipe (from 2005!) – she no longer talks about cake. Last year she talked a lot about diets, and this year she has been posting about simple cooking. - If you are a lurker (someone who reads this blog but rarely or never comments), will you delurk and say hello?
By the way, my daughter danced with a different teacher tonight, and it went well. So we probably have a new dance studio for her for September. And if you haven’t yet visited my free postcard giveaway post, you still have a few days left to join just by leaving a comment on that post.

I'm currently re-reading Bleak House by Charles Dickens and really enjoying it. I first read it when I was eleven and I think I'm getting a lot more out of it now. I'd like to review it on my Livejournal, but I'm not sure if I'll get the time.

I suppose subconsciously when I saw the photo (long after taking it), I thought of those posters for this post.
I read Great Expectations this year (because my son had to read it for school - he found it dull, I enjoyed it) and David Copperfield. I'll have to keep Bleak House in mind when I'm looking for a book at the library.

I also read Great Expectations at school. I've never read David Copperfield, though. Hard Times is also worth reading, although it's quite different to a lot of Dickens' work (i.e. it's much shorter and with less humour).

I'm reading garbage this week - crime dramas and the like, easy summertime by the pool books :). Good fun, but nothing I can particularly recommend.
Photos I'm thinking of? It would have to be these beauties, in an etsy FPOE (Female Photographers of Etsy) treasury I created for yesterday's treasury blitz.

I'm reading a gorgeous, tempting, delicious cookbook to review, Persian Food from the non-Persian bride.
I can't think of specific pictures from other blogs. You once had a great one at an "Israel celebration" with flags, and there's ~Sarah~ and Ilana-Davita who photograph very different sorts of places.
So your daughter is a dancer, I love dancing!

I love the photo of your jazz girl.
I recently finished Little Bee by Chris Cleave and I'm getting ready to start reading Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. Little Bee was good but heartbreaking. It was about a girl who was a Nigerian refugee in England. I have put Cutting Stone on my bed side table to start but haven't read the first page yet. I know from the back cover that it's about twin brothers whose parents were an Indian nun and a British surgeon and the twins were orphaned.
There are so many photos that come to mind from other blogs I can't think of one individual to mention.
I haven't tried any blogger recipes in a long time, maybe I will soon. I could use a change in food.

Lat weekend I read The Help by Kathryn Stockett and really enjoyed it; I don't know why I had never heard about it until then.
I am currently reading Hangman by Faye Kellerman and will then read a book entitled Un juif improbable - an autobiography by the son of two Holocaust survivors.

Your daughter always was a beauty. I like the teasing glipmse in her eyes on this photo. Joy is such a valauble, but elusive state of mind.
I am a "flower girl" and love anything that's growing, dandilionas inclusive.
Today I have visited Maira Stahl's garden and cannot wait to go out and work in my own. Pictures ARE inspiring.
I guess I'm reading at least three books simultaniously. I had reached the "biography age" and am enjoying the company of Bob Dylan and the Norwegian author Arne Garborg for the time being. I also keep reading science litteratur, just now Eric Fromm's "To have or to be", bought on a flee market. On my night stand I keep paperbacks about local history, Peanuts and vintage "Reader's Digest Magazines. I like to keep my mind in neutral mood when I'm going to sleep.
I am a lousy cook, but I found a wonderful and moist pure spelt bread recipe, which Gunnar is continuously making for the two of us.
I also found information and recipees about ramsons and black elderberry flower in blogs and they have become a part of my general knowledge and everyday use. From April tilll September we are eating ramsons on a daily base. I also freeze some for the winter.
Hope I have answered most of your questions.
I just want to add, I'm praying particularly for Israel these days.

I´m reading THE PRICE OF INDIFFERENCE, Refugees and HUmanitarian Action in the New Century because I need to improve my English since I´ll start Mastercourse in August. I research about refugee life. I work as photographer and the photography gives me what never I imagined...PEACE and HUMANITY.
