Simple Summer Salad Hunt
I am looking for links to wonderful summer salads or spreads (vegan or pareve, please) – I plan to do a post next week with a list of these salads. Here are two examples to wet your appetite:
- Cooking Manager: Tabbouleh
- Pragmatic Attic: Vegan Pâté
Thank you!

Great! All wonderful options. Organizing the post will give me a chance to gather ideas for my own cooking.

I love summer salads - and most are in fact pareve - but now that I'm on the spot for some reason all the ones I think of are either dairy (watermelon-feta salad - to die for and my newest go-to summer favorite) or meat (I've got a delicious curried orzo chicken salad in the fridge as we speak, it's good enough and light enough that I've purposely eaten it for lunch three days in a row).
I do make a good kitchen sink style couscous salad that could fit the bill - cook up some couscous, throw in whatever chopped salad type vegetables you happen to have on hand, add in craisins or raisins, a few handfuls of cashews, and some homemade vinaigrette dressing and voila, lunch. Or even dinner if you're looking for something light. I don't think I've ever blogged it though, so no link to share.
So there you have it. Much ado about not all that much. Sorry, I tried.

Nah, that was a lovely response, Robin. My blog rules aren't very strict.
Just looking for general ideas, for me to eat and to share in a post next week. Having craisins on hand sounds like a good idea for salad makers.

The New York Times Well blog is going to have five pate recipes (mostly, if not all, vegetarian) on Friday in the "Recipes for Your Health" post.
Chowhound.chow.com will probably have all sorts of summery salads, just have to search a bit to find ones that appeal to you. It's an incredibly comprehensive website.

Thanks for the link. This is a great idea for a post. I could use some new summer salad ideas.

My favorite cucumber salad is here.
Looking forward to your post!

It's good you told me, because I did a search on your site, and you rarely name the title with the recipe or recipe contents. I am almost done with the salad post - maybe I'll hit publish tomorrow?

That's one of the reasons why I finally got around to launching a recipe page - http://ourshiputzim.blogspot.com/p/recipes.html - about a month ago. Coincidentally, a couple of people had told me that they had unsuccessfully tried to search my blog for a specific recipe. And so I realized that the time had come to do something about it... :-)
Please leave a comment! I love to hear from you.
