Branch and Leaf on Meadows Trail
Way back in January, my daughter and I went for a walk on the Meadows trail near Donaldson Park. The trail was cleared back in 2006, and it is a nice stroll through the woods. I like this photo and wanted to share it; it looks a bit like the branches of the raspberry bushes in my backyard. It was a snow-less winter in New Jersey, and I think this photo reflects that sort of empty brownness that we had instead.
I haven’t been able to get into nature much recently myself (other than my yard), as I’ve been taking care of my father who is 82 and has needed a lot of help lately. We are working on getting him a new living situation. Balancing work and my regular family duties with this has taken a lot of my time and energy.

You do sound very busy these days, Leora. I hope you can find a better situation for your dad, one that will give you more time for taking photos. :)
Leora says
I went from having little time to do art to doing photos because it took less time to trying to figure out when I can take photos! I did take a few today.
Today was a good day with my father - I had to schlep him to an appointment, but things went smoothly, more or less. I'm learning about negotiating wheelchairs in the suburbs. Not easy.

You have a lot on your plate. I hope you are able to find the best possible new living situation for your father. I know it's hard.
Leora says
Thanks, Carver.

I hear you about trying to find time to balance family needs and personal/work needs. Not only do I have two young children, but an ailing parent as well - I completely relate. Good luck with your Dad!
Leora says
Cynthia, I wish I could offer you support as well! I am so grateful for some of my friends who have helped me out.

I sincerely hope you can find arrangements that make life easier for your dad and for you.
Leora says
Thanks - one day at a time. Hopefully, things will be more settled in the next week.

This is the squeeze...Hubby's Mom fell taking a short cut in a place she shouldn't be at age 88 and broke her wrist and other injuries. My Mom is in rehab again as she won't do what the doctor's tell her to do. My daughter who didn't want to worry me about a trip went to Mexico for a week and was hit with a hurricane...but I found out after she left..Watched the weather where she was all week and worried..Squeezed.. I hear you..Michelle
Leora says
Hey, Michelle, thanks so much for all your support. You are always so open about many of your issues. I suppose that is healthy, to a degree.
I find I can only talk so much online and then I find it too personal.
Rambling Woods says
I think I talk more about challenges online than in person, but I know people deal with so many similar things and some feel they are alone and as one who spends a lot of time alone, I understand that it can be isolating..not that the online world can ever take the place of the real world...if that makes sense..
Rambling Woods says
I do like the photo and I think it does capture this past winter and how I felt about it anyway..
Leora says
Thanks for the comment on the photo. I like it when some stuff stays the same... as in, we photo bloggers all like to connect by talking about our photos.

I am sorry to hear you are having difficult situations, right now. I empathize. It is hard, and frustrating at times. May things calm down soon. Prayers to you and yours.
Leora says
Thank you. So nice to get all these supportive comments.
But no one commented on my photo ... I actually do like it a lot. Beautiful imagery helps calm me when I am upset.
Jewaicious says
Oh my gosh! I meant to comment on it. LOL Senior moment.
I agree, imagery can be very calming.
I love the bits of new life from within the browning leaves. The textures of aging and rebirth are lovely.
Leora says
Thank you, I feel better now. Bits of new life and textures of aging and rebirth are wonderful notes.

Lovely photo, it is nice just to get out and take a walk. I was happy with the somewhat of a snowless winter. I wish for the same this year. I hope you find something good for your Dad. Have a great day.
