Nature at Batsto Village
There is a lake at Batsto Village in the Pine Barrens in southern New Jersey. There one can see all sorts of natural elements, like wildflowers and a pretty butterfly.
This star-like lavender flower (spotted knapweed – thanks to EG Wow) was also growing next to the lake. There is a nature center at the village, but we didn’t get a chance to visit.
This cattail is situated in a man-made pond created by 19th century businessman Joseph Wharton.

Very nice shot of the butterfly, Leora! The flower looks like spotted knotweed. Great photos!

"spotted knotweed" - excellent! I love when I have a name to go with a "face."

Looked it up - it's spotted knapweed.

I think it is a female Tiger Swallowtail butterfly, but I am not an expert.
My camera is broken so I just smudged one of my mom's photos of an old Bulgarian house.
Hubby still can't find a job in engineering. It has been now more than a year since he finished college. A lot of experienced folks on the market makes it harder for the newbies.

I'm sorry to hear your husband is still having a hard time with getting a job. This is a difficult time (economically) to be starting out.
Thanks for the tag on the Tiger Swallowtail butterfly. Now I have something to look up...
Leora says
Maybe a black swallowtail?

I don't always have something in nature to report... I got tired of photographing sparrows, for example. The cardinals that I see every few days are too fast for me.
